Welcome to 3D
Here we go!!
Hi, my name is Kurt Davidson, and I will be your son/daughter’s Grade 3 teacher this year. I hope you and your family had a very safe and enjoyable
summer. I’d like to take this opportunity to provide you with some information
about the upcoming school year.
School Materials - If possible, I’d like each student to obtain the
following materials for the school year:
Anderdon School Planner ($4)
a set of coloured pencils (8 pack is fine)
a glue stick
a red pen
a box of Kleenex (or 2)
a pair of running
shoes for gym (kept at school for winter months)
A pencil, eraser, and ruler has already been provided.
Planners - The students will use the Anderdon Planners to keep track of
homework and to note important dates. Planners can also be a very valuable
source of communication between the home and school. I am asking that you sign
or initial the planner every school day starting the second week of school. This
will provide you with an opportunity to check for homework and to check for any
notes from myself or the school. If you have any questions or concerns
throughout the year, please feel free to call me at the school or to make a note
in your son’s/daughter’s planner.
Balanced Day - Anderdon will again be following a Balanced Day schedule, which includes 2 periods followed by a nutritional break, then 2 more periods followed by another nutritional break, and then the final 2 periods of the day. Each nutritional break will be 40 minutes in length. Please discuss and decide with your child during which nutritional breaks he/she will eat lunch/snacks.
Allergies
We have a student with allergies to nuts in the class this year. I would ask for your cooperation and support by not sending nuts, or food products containing nuts to school (ie peanut butter). It is my goal to keep the classroom environment as safe as possible for all students, so your support in this matter would be very much appreciated.
Special Lunch or After School Arrangements - If you have special arrangements
for your son/daughter on a particular day, with respect to lunch or after
school, please write a note in the planner so we can assure your requests are
followed. If your child is a bus student and there is a change on any given day
(they are to be picked up), please inform us of the change in plans.
Book Orders - Each month, your son/daughter will receive an order form in
order to purchase books from the Scholastic’s Book Club. If you wish to purchase
books, please fill in the order form and send it, along with a cheque (no cash)
for the appropriate amount. The orders generally take about 2 weeks to arrive at
the school.
I am looking forward to an exciting, fun year, filled with rewarding learning
opportunities! I hope to meet each of you in the near future. Once again, if you
have any questions or concerns, please contact me.
